Two area Chambers of Commerce
are hosting the 2003 Annual Business Showcase on March 5th at
the Samoset Resort, where local businesses showcase their
products and services to other businesses and to the general
public.
The showcase, hosted by Camden-Rockport-Lincolnville and the
Rockland-Thomaston Area chambers of commerce is open from
10 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and is free to the public. The lead sponsor
is Macdonald Page Schatz Fletcher & Company, LLC.
This year's show is shaping up to be a great one in terms of
the number of exhibitors, informative seminars and overall
attendance.
Local businesses will occupy over 90 booths at the showcase.
The Keynote address (sponsored by Androscoggin Bank), "Maine Business:
How to Manage Change in Challenging Times" will feature C. Wayne
Mitchell and Gene Guilford of Productive Communications. This will
be from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.
In addition to the tradeshow and resource area, the event
will feature several seminars, led by area business experts.
The seminar schedule is a follows:
11:00 to 12:15 p.m. -- "Finding Your Inner Guerrilla Marketer,"
(sponsored by Union Trust) presented Shawn Stockman, Marketing
Director of VillageSoup.
1:00 to 2:15 p.m. -- "Maines' CarerrCenters: Finding Employees in
a Tight Labor Market," (sponsored by The MidCoast Review) with a
panel of speakers from various businesses -- John Christie of Rockland
CareerCenter, Nell Wing of Training Resource Center, Dave Tomm of
Seasoned Workforce Task Force, Candice Carpenter of Coastal Economic
Development Corporation and Leon Ouimet of Maine Department of Labor.
1:00 to 2:15 p.m. -- "What is a Database and Why do I Need One?"
(sponsored by J&B Diversified Associates, Inc.) with
a panel of speakers from various businesses -- Bill Thomas of BLACKSUN
Networks, Nathan Chute a Consultant and Chase Saunders of Burgess
Computer.
A Business Reception, hosted by the Samoset Resort, will be located
in the Knox County Ballroom from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. where door
Door and raffle prizes will announced starting at 5:00 p.m. in the
Knox County Ballroom. Courtesy carry-alls for the event will be
provided by Union Trust and will be available at Chamber's tables
located in the main entrance.
